A group of people suspected to be members of a gang known for terrorising residents in the Johannesburg CBD and Hillbrow have been apprehended by the police.

Several videos have emerged, showing the gang of five men attacking victims and robbing them of their belongings.

Gauteng police have called for victims to come forward after the arrest of a gang suspected of being responsible for street robberies in Hillbrow and the Johannesburg CBD.

The Hillbrow suspects were arrested in the Vannin Court building

The suspects were said to have been using the Vannin Court building as their hideout.

Confirming the arrest, the gang was closely observed by police and the JMPD before they pounced on them after robbing a victim, according to Gauteng police spokesperson Lt-Col Mavela Masondo.

“The victims and those with information can call Lt. Col. Rivalani Nkotswi at (082) 319-9955.” “Tip-offs and information can also be sent through the MySAPS app or by calling Crime Stoppers at (866) 102-1111,” he added.

The suspects were seen in videos that circulated on social media, approaching their victims in full view of the public and strangling and robbing them.
