The woman reported the incident to the police, and a rape case was opened and assigned to the Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offence Unit (FCS) Unit to probe.   Four suspects were arrested on Monday, October 03, 2022 and appeared at the Middleburg Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, October 04, 2022, facing rape charges, and the case was postponed to October 11, 2022, for bail applications.   The provincial commissioner of police in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, has strongly condemned the “barbaric” act.
” This is disheartening for such men to have even thought about acting like wild animals and preying on a defenceless woman. The law should indeed take its course. Our members will also work hard to arrest the remaining suspects. So far, we applaud the team for arresting the four and we are confident that it is just a matter of time before outstanding ones are brought to book as well, “said Manamela.
The suspects were remanded in custody and police are still in pursuit of the remaining suspects.   Pay attention: Follow IspotDaily on Facebook for more news updates
