Teen, 16, raped by a man she knows and trusted

Nelspruit – Police have arrested a 20-year-old man who allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl who knows and trusts him.   According to reports, the young teenager’s mother had sent her to a store on 14 December 2022 at about 7:30 PM when the suspect allegedly accompanied her to the store.   On the way back, the suspect allegedly dragged the victim to a Uncompleted building where he raped her. The incident was then reported to the police and the suspect was arrested on the same day.

  Mpumalanga’s Provincial Commissioner of police Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, has since commented on the incident.   “It is with great regret that there are men who still rape just few days after the 16 days of activism for non-violence against women and children was held. We are glad that an arrest was made and we hope the law will take its course” she said   The suspect is set to appear at the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 19 December 2022.
