Mpumalanga – A 42-year-old Kanyamazane man allegedly shot his 37-year-old girlfriend before his body was found with a bullet wound with a firearm lying next to him.
It is said that on Thursday (22 September 2022) at about 07:00 am, the female was on her way to work in Mbombela when she was allegedly shot and killed by her boyfriend. It is alleged that he shot him in full view of locals on his route to school and work.

The suspect then fled the scene to his father’s house, where he allegedly turned the gun on himself.
“Police and emergency personnel were summoned to both scenes and, on arrival, the female as well as the alleged suspect were certified dead by the medical personnel. “The female is believed to have been in a relationship with the said man,” said Brigadier Selvy Mohlala.

Mohlala further said that “Police are investigating a murder case with a probe in inquest to establish what has occurred as well as the circumstances. A preliminary investigation has since revealed that the firearm reportedly used was stolen with other items at Kanyamazane during a housebreaking incident on September 16, 2022. This shocking incident could be associated with domestic violence. ”
Mpumalanga Provincial commissioner of police, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, has since strongly condemned the incident and called on the public to abstain from resorting to violence in their relationships.
