A Malawian couple was stabbed and hacked to death in their rented room on Saturday night in Redcliff, KZN.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa, they were called to the scene at about 22:21 after neighbours discovered the lifeless bodies of the couple covered in blankets.
“On arrival, Reaction Officers were informed that the victims were heard screaming for assistance before they went silent. Residents remained in their houses in fear for their safety,” said RUSA spokesperson Prem Barlim.
The female victim was stabbed multiple times while her partner, the male, is believed to have been hacked with a panga. The motive of the murder is suspected to be robbery, and Verulam SAPS is investigating further.
