Many educational materials have been destroyed after a school was petrol bombed in Free State.
According to reports, Gonyane Primary School in Bloemfontein, Free State, was petrol bombed, which led to the loss of learning and teaching materials worth R300000. This happened just before the 2023 academic year started.
The materials, which were said to be in the school hall, were destroyed in the incident, which happened early on Friday, January 6, 2022.

Petrol Bomb found on the scene
According to the Free State Department of Education, a used patrol bomb was found next to the burned stationery. The alleged suspects also threw another gasoline bomb into the administration block.
Confirming the attack, the department’s spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, said several other schools in the province have been targets of vandalism and arson.
Ndaba said the motive for torching Gonyane Primary School is unknown, and police are investigating the matter.
