A man named Musa Hasahya, who has 12 wives and 102 children, has advised people against marrying more than four wives, as he is struggling to cater for his large family.

Musa, who has decided to quit fatherhood as he finds it very difficult to cater to his large family, is a 67-year-old man who married 12 wives, who then gave birth to more than a hundred children.

In a publication by the Daily Star, Musa has, however, ordered his wives to go on a pill, as he no longer wants more children.

“I cannot tolerate bearing children any more because of the limited resources.” And on that note, I have advised all my wives of childbearing age to go for family planning.

“I also discourage those who wish to marry more than four wives not to do so because things are not good,” said Musa.

Musa, who now has about 568 grandchildren, resides in a 12-bedroom house in Bugisa, Uganda. He also confirmed that he could not totally identify all his children and grandchildren by their names; he could, however, differentiate them facially.

He also said that after quitting school in 1971 at the age of 16, he got married to his first wife, Hanifa. Two years later, his wife gave birth to a girl. At the time, he was the chairperson in his village and a businessman, so he opted to increase his family size as he had both land and money.

“Because I was able to earn something, I decided to expand my family by marrying more women.”

“I ensured that hoes were provided for each of them to till the land and produce food enough to support the family since the soils are fertile,” he said.

He has now requested assistance from the government as he struggles to educate all his children.

His first wife also mentioned that they have been on good terms despite the family size.

Hanifa said, “He has a listening heart; he never rushes to make decisions before hearing from all the parties.” “He doesn’t victimise anybody, and he treats all of us equally.”
