Former Inkomazi Local Municipality at Malelane Manager, Muzi Daniel Ngwenya, was arrested by the Nelspruit Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation for fraud, theft and contravening the Municipal Finance Management Act on Friday, October 28, 2022.
It is said that the 55-year old was arrested following an investigation conducted by the Hawks where it was discovered that the suspects bought a pre-owned Mercedes Benz from a vehicle dealership in Bedfordview, Johannesburg using municipality funds.

“He reportedly registered the vehicle in his name, prejudicing the municipality an actual loss of R900 000,” said Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi.
On October 28, 2022, the suspect appeared at Tonga Magistrates’ Court where he was granted R10 000 bail. The case was then postponed to January 25, 2022 for further investigation.
