Western Cape – Keanu May, 17, was sentenced to 68 years in prison at the Blue Downs Regional Court for Murder, Attempted Murder, and Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition.
It is said that in February 2021, the then 16-year old went to Petrus Street in Kraaifontein, where he shot and killed an unsuspecting victim who was standing in his yard with his friends. The teen was arrested but was later released on bail.
Whilst on bail in May 2021, the teen also spotted a rival gang member and shot him several times, fatally wounding him. He then proceeded to shoot a 9-year old girl in the neck, an adult female in the knee, and attempted to shoot another person, but he missed.
Keanu May arrested and sentenced.
“After his shooting spree, the suspect was arrested and the Anti-Gang Unit took over both cases.” “Detective Warrant Officer Otto Landsberg of the Provincial Organised Crime Anti-Gang Unit built a strong case against the accused and he was convicted on all the 9 charges,” said Ndakhe Gwala.
The 17-year-old was then sentenced to 30 years for two counts of murder; 30 years for three counts of attempted murder; and 8 years for possession of a firearm and ammunition.
