It’s been only Five days since a mob raided Soul City informal Settlement in search of illegal miners and the Zama Zamas are already back at it.
Drone footage shared online shows that the illegal miners are currently running massive operations around Germiston, Brakpan, Springs, Golden Drive and Putfontein, Benoni on the East Rand (Gauteng Province).
Kagiso residents went on a protest and burnt shacks belonging to illegal miners which are said to have contained mining tools or sand containing gold content. Kagiso residents backed by private security captured Zama zamas in the bushes, stripped them naked, sjamboked them before handing them over to the police.
As a result, 26 suspects were captured and one man was found dead on the streets.

The protests were said to have been fueled by the Rape incident that occurred on the 28th ofJuly in West Village, Krugersdorp where women were raped by illegal miners with some being raped by as many as 10 men.
