A 22-year-old man was raped and held captive for about two weeks after being offered to spend a night at the home of an unknown couple. It is said that the male was located by Reaction Unit South Africa’s members in Verulam on Saturday after he was reported missing by his family two weeks ago. According to the man, on the day of his disappearance, he was consuming alcohol at a bar in the Verulam CBD when he left with a woman believed to be a sex worker and proceeded to another bar in Waterloo where she bought him alcohol. They then proceeded to a house in the area where the woman informed him that he could spend the night with a couple known to her. The woman then left him in the company of the couple, who allowed him to sleep in a spare bedroom. During the course of the night, he realized that someone was in bed with him. When he woke up, he realized that he was being fondled by a male who covered his mouth and sodomized him. He told him not to tell anyone or he would be killed. He was also told not to leave the house or he would be tracked and killed. According to the victim, the man attempted to rape him several times over the next two weeks while his wife was asleep. He further alleged that the perpetrator also informed him that he was in love with him and wanted to marry him. Out of fear, the victim complied and remained in the house until he was found by RUSA officers acting on a tip-off. The alleged rapist was not at the house at the time. The victim was not sure whether the sex worker had sold him. The victim tried to open a case at the Verulam SAPS but was told to return on Sunday and no reason was provided.
