A 38 year old man was arrested and detained for the alleged murder of his 64 year old mother identified as Ntombizana Frans on Thursday 23 June 2022.
It is said that walmer police received and responded to a complaint about domestic violence at a house on Bhabhatane Street in Walmer. On arrival police found the suspects leaving the premises.
It was then that police instructed the male to open the door and they made a shocking discovery. They found the body Of Ntombizana lying on the kitchen floor with multiple stab wounds on her body.
The suspect was then arrested and detained on a charge of murder. The motive of the murder is still unknown and it is alleged that the deceased and her son were in constant fights but she never opened any cases.
The Nelson Mandela Bay District’s Acting Commissioner, Brig Thandiswa Kupiso has since condemned the violent attack on an elderly woman.
‘Such abuse at the hands of a callous perpetrator must be fought by all and we urge communities not to keep silent, instead to immediately report domestic violence to police. It is sad when a parent’s life is taken away in such a gruesome manner by their own child/children whom they have protected and nurtured. The elderly are under great strain and as a society, we all need to play our part in ensuring that they are safe even from their own,’ appealed Kupiso.
The suspect is set to appear in the Qheberha’s Magistrates court on Monday 27 June 2022.
