Getting into Matric can be stressful, and it can really affect one’s mental health. If you’re not studying for exams under pressure, you’re stressing about university, and most students even stress about funding.

We’ll, 21-year-old Dimakatso Koketso Lekola, often referred to as DK Lekola, a third-year LLB law student at the University of Pretoria, found a solution to that when he started Variegated Business Solutions (VBS) on May 28, 2022.

Simphiwe Mthombeni a past Matriculant from Allanridge Secondary in Gauteng and Prince Madubandlela from Suikerland secondary in Mpumalanga both benefited from the program.

VBS is a company that came up with a programme that saw over 27 WhatsApp groups with a special focus on specific subjects being created to help Matric pupils from all around the country engage by expressing how they feel and helping each other where they struggle.

The programme saw matriculants being offered mental health sessions to ensure that everyone was in the right mindset, and the pupils had access to 34 different mentors free of charge.

Lekola has since described VBS as something that “takes the form of bridging the gap in the South African education system by integrating learners in SA public schools and private schools to lead SA sectors of the economy in both the private and public sectors.”

Buhle Ndlovu, a past Matriculant at Destiny Charter Schools in Gauteng was also a beneficiary.

Speaking with IspotDaily’s Kat Sibiya, Lekole, who had very humble beginnings as he grew up, revealed that it makes him happy and excited to engage with learners and that he enjoys watching every learner succeed.

If you are a pupil who is in matric this year, a parent who has a child, or know someone who is in matric, you can let them know about the programme and encourage them to join the WhatsApp group to engage with their peers who are in the same program.
