A truck carrying R3 million worth of FutureLife was looted, and the trailer was set alight in KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday morning.   According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), one of their members was on patrol when he noticed a trailer on fire and called for further assistance.   On arrival, the Ethekwini Fire Department extinguished the blaze, and upon further investigation, it was established that the trailer was loaded with futurelife, which was destined for a distribution centre.

“Officers canvassed the area and interviewed residents. One individual stated that the driver was seen consuming alcohol in the informal area. He allegedly advised residents that he was despondent towards his employer, who is a subcontractor for a logistics company. He then allegedly unhitched the trailer and drove off in the truck. Residents then looted the goods before setting the trailer alight.

“A second individual stated that the driver accidentally turned onto the wrong road, where he was confronted by a group of males who threatened to shoot him if he did not unhitch the trailer.” The man allegedly complied and drove off. Neither version could be verified. said RUSA
While on the scene, information about the whereabouts of the truck was received, and reaction officers went to the area where the Volvo truck had been recovered abandoned outside a service station and the driver couldn’t be located or reached on his cellphone.
