The decomposing body of a 33-year-old KwaZulu-Natal man was discovered in his home in Buffelsdraai on Friday afternoon.
Reaction Unit South Africa was called to the scene by a neighbour who noticed flies on the window of the house. Upon further investigation, they found the door slightly open, and as they entered the home, they were met with an overwhelming smell of
rotting flesh.
The neighbours then exited the residence and looked through a window, where they noticed a man lying on the floor.

According to
RUSA spokesperson Prem Barlim, RUSA members were met on the roadside by the neighbor, who then escorted them to the house, which is situated below road level.
“Officers discovered the front door ajar. “The man’s decomposing body was discovered on the floor of the sparsely furnished home,” he said.
The identity of the deceased was confirmed, and his family arrived on the scene before informing RUSA members that they last spoke to him about a month ago when the man was still a
drug addict.
The cause of the man’s death has not yet been established.
