Medical Student stabbed 16 times 6 months before he could graduate

Two suspects arrested have been arrested for the murder of a 26 year old University of Free State medical student who was about to complete his clinical training. Wiseman Mthunzi Zwane’s body was found by community members in a river in Nhlazane with 16 stab wounds on his body then alerted police on 06 July 2022. Police conducted an investigation and on Friday (08 July 2022) they were led to the suspects and after following some leads they arrested the 18 year old suspect at Nhlazatshe. The second suspect (17) is said to be in hospital under police guard as he was beat up y community members prior to his arrest. The 18 year old suspect has since appeared at the Chief Albert Sisulu Magistrate court on Monday (11 July 2022) I and the other suspect is set to appear in court soon. In a publication by Daily Sun the victim’s sister Nqobile opened up and mentioned that they are very hurt by what happened as his brother had a bright future and had big plans for the family.

“he always assured me he was going to make our lives better. We have suffered a great loss. All the plans he had are gone.”said Nqobile

Wiseman only had six months left of studies until he could graduate in November. The case was postponed to 19 July for a formal bail application and the investigation is still ongoing and there is a possibility of more arrests.
