A 34 year old man who is believed to have stolen household items worth R35 000 from his mother’s house was arrested on Monday morning by Reaction Unit South Africa’s (RUSA) officers.

It is said that his mother opened a case against her son who is also a drug addict in April 2022 after she came home from an outing and discovered that her Fridge, Freezer, Microwave, and Skyworth TV, Washing Machine, TV Cabinet, Clothes, Bed and Money were missing and the were no signs of forced entry and her son could not be located. It is said that the man was living with his mother at the time of the incident, but was later barred from entering the property, but he continuously returned to the house demanding money but fled when his mother contacted law enforcement. He has been evading law enforcement ever since. The woman then said later resorted to asking Reaction Unit South Africa to help in arresting her son as there were previous incidents of theft in her home. On Monday morning 04 July 2022, RUSA’s officers received information about the location of the accused. The suspect was then found and arrested in dense vegetation near Katzkop Drive. Reaction officers and Detectives managed to recover the Stolen Fridge, Skyworth TV, TV stand and a bed from a tavern owner in a follow up operation.

It was then established that the suspect had sold the goods for only R1600 and deceived the tavern owner that the goods were his. The man then hired a bakkie to fetch them at the suspects home. The microwave along with a washing machine and the freezer was recovered in a second home in Mountview., the suspect was then handed over to SAPS Verulam.
