Mpumalanga – A 33 year old mother was left in shock after she lost her two sets of twins (two boys and two girls) aged eight and thirteen after they were burned to death in a shack fire in the early hours of Monday.
It is said that police were called out to the scene where a shack was on fire at the Marikana Informal Settlement in Hendrina. On arrival they found out this was true and in response called fire extinguishers. Two sets of twins were then certified dead.
According to Reports it is alleged that the mother of the deceased set of twins left them 4 days ago in the care of their 17 year old brother. When the fire broke out the teen tried to save his siblings but failed as the fire was at an advanced stage.
The cause of the fire still hasn’t been confirmed but it is believed that a illegal connection of electricity could have caused it as there were visible loose cables on the ground. The mother and her son have since been sent to hospital as they were in a state of shock.
Police have since registered an inquest and an investigation is ongoing.
